Legacy space is the IPv4 address space that was distributed prior to the formation of the Regional Internet Registry (RIR) system.
Legacy address space can be transferred within the RIPE NCC service region. The RIPE NCC can help to update the registration information in the RIPE Database to reflect the new holder of the legacy space, so long as it is clear who is the legitimate holder. Legacy space that is transferred in this way will retain its "early registration" status. For more information, see the section on legacy address space.
Contact the RIPE NCC to Find out More
Before organising a transfer of legacy space, either the transferring or recipient organisation is encouraged to contact the RIPE NCC to seek clarification on the processes and policies that apply. Both members and non-members can contact the RIPE NCC by emailing legacy _at_ ripe _dot_ net.
