Software Engineer (Software Engineering)

We're looking for a new Software Engineer to join our Software Engineering (SWE) Department. As part of one of our Scrum teams, you will improve important software services such as the RIPE Database, the RIPE Registry and the LIR Portal.

Our software is written in Java, Scala, Javascript and Angular. We are proud that it is partly Open Source, a concept we highly value.

As an engineer in SWE you will have the opportunity to implement awesome features and dive into solving big problems every day. If you like to challenge yourself and work in a tremendous team, this is the place to be.

You will be a part of the team that shapes the technical future of the RIPE NCC and you will have the ability to work on services that are fundamental to the operational aspects of the Internet.

This position is based at our offices in the vibrant city centre of Amsterdam.

 It’s important that you enjoy and feel confident in:

  • Using the full stack, including database, Java and front-end
  • Creating and improving existing features
  • Writing robust code that others will find easy to understand and work with
  • Challenging standards, being creative and joining discussions when appropriate
  • Communicating and working in an Agile environment
  • Solving problems pragmatically
  • Using Linux command line: deploying services, monitoring running applications, analysing logs, etc.

We think it would be extra cool if you could contribute with:

  • Knowledge about distributed database setup
  • Knowledge about Scala, AngularJS, TDD, Spring, REST
  • Knowledge of user experience-driven web development

About us:

The RIPE Network Coordination Centre (RIPE NCC) is one of five Regional Internet Registries (RIRs) providing Internet resource allocations, registration services and coordination activities that support the operation of the Internet globally. The organisation is set up as a not-for-profit association and the working language is English. The environment is internationally-orientated, with staff from more than 20 countries.


The annual salary for this position is between EUR 45,684 and EUR 60,912 (before tax). This includes the standard 8% annual 'holiday pay' and a 5% end-of-year bonus. Monthly salary is between EUR 3,369 and EUR 4,492 (before tax).
