Dear RIPE NCC members, The RIPE NCC Survey 2023 is open for just three more days! 3,640 people have completed it, and with your help we can hopefully push past 4,000 responses. This will give us the insight we need to deliver great services to our members and shape our plans for the coming years. And there are still some great prizes to be won, including Samsung earphones, an Apple Watch and a trip to Rome for the RIPE 87 Meeting: https://www.ripe.net/participate/member-support/surveys/ripe-ncc-survey-2023 Read on to see everything the RIPE NCC and the RIPE community have been doing this month: 1. Registry -- LIR Stats -- Implementing EU Sanctions Exemption 2. Information Services -- RIPE NCC Internet Country Report: Central Europe -- Unknown Attribute 28 - A Source Of Entropy in Interdomain Routing? -- Usage Patterns of RIS Live at Code BGP -- New on the RIPE NCC Forum 3. Community and Engagement -- RIPE NCC Survey 2023 -- RIPE Policy Proposals -- The RIPE Chair Team Reports: Highlights from RIPE 86 -- Measuring and Maintaining the Quality of Our E-learning -- Open Houses in June and July -- New RIPE NCC Academy Microlearning: What is RPKI? -- Training Courses and Webinars in June 4. We have now shared an update on how we will implement this exemption: https://www.ripe.net/ripe/mail/archives/ncc-announce/2023-June/001663.html 2. Information Services -- RIPE NCC Internet Country Report: Central Europe We have published a new Internet Country Report, this time looking at four countries in Central Europe: Czechia, Hungary, Poland and Slovakia. The report looks at the region’s major market players and level of competition, Internet number resource holdings, IPv4 transfers and IPv6 readiness. Read the summary and access the full report at: https://labs.ripe.net/author/suzanne_taylor_muzzin/ripe-ncc-internet-country-report-central-europe/ -- Unknown Attribute 28 - A Source Of Entropy in Interdomain Routing? On RIPE Labs, Emile Aben looks into BGP attribute 28 after malformed packets with this attribute caused a disruption in Internet interdomain routing: https://labs.ripe.net/author/emileaben/unknown-attribute-28-a-source-of-entropy-in-interdomain-routing/ -- Usage Patterns of RIS Live at Code BGP On RIPE Labs, Ioannis Sermetziadis shares how the Code BGP team used RIS Live features to help them build a platform capable of detecting and resolving BGP issues in seconds: https://labs.ripe.net/author/ioannis-sermetziadis/usage-patterns-of-ris-live-at-code-bgp/ -- New on the RIPE NCC Forum Over the past month, people have been submitting topics and joining discussions on the new RIPE NCC Forum about WHOIS integration tests, Wikipedia enthusiasts, sustainability, JMX with Java 17 and more. Please fill it out to share your feedback about our services and activities so that we can better meet your needs and plan for the coming years. The survey is anonymous and available in 10 languages. The deadline to complete the survey is 30 June (23:59 UTC): https://www.ripe.net/participate/member-support/surveys/ripe-ncc-survey-2023 -- Call for Hosts for RIPE 89, 90 and 91 The call for hosts is open for RIPE 89 (28 October-1 November 2024), RIPE 90 (19-23 May 2025) and RIPE 91 (20-24 October 2025). Submit your proposal to host by 30 June: https://www.ripe.net/participate/meetings/ripe-meetings/call-for-host -- RIPE Policy Proposals -- Last Call for Comments on 2023-02 (Minimum Size for IPv4 Temporary Assignments) Policy proposal 2023-02, "Minimum Size for IPv4 Temporary Assignments," has entered Last Call. This proposal recommends setting the minimum assignment size to a /24 while still allowing for a smaller assignment if requested by the End User. It also allows routing requirements to justify the request for more than a /24 for research purposes.
