-- RIPE NCC Charging Scheme 2022 / GM Supporting Documents Published
The RIPE NCC Charging Scheme 2022, to be voted on during the RIPE NCC General Meeting (GM) May 2021, has been published. The Executive Board proposes to continue with the existing fee model in 2022 but to reduce the sign-up fee to lower the barrier for new members to join.

-- Improving Mitigation of Web-based Threats
In order to help mitigate Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attacks against our web infrastructure, we have started testing Cloudflare’s DDoS protection services in parts of our production environment. We have seen an increase in the amount and severity of attacks in recent weeks, and this measure will give us added protection.

We are also investigating other options for longer-term improvements to the resilience of our web infrastructure during DDoS attacks in the coming months.

-- RACI Project Funding
We invite academic and research institutes in the RIPE NCC service region to apply for funding to work on projects in these areas:
- Apply machine learning and big data analytics to the collected routing data to identify and predict trends
- Apply and customise big data visualisation frameworks to the collected routing data to better display the data to users

2. Your Technical Update
-- RPKI and AS3333
On 19 April 2021, we decided to “eat our own dog food” and started to perform Route Origin Validation on our own network, AS3333. So far, we have received very positive feedback about the initiative. Nathalie Trenaman talks about why we've held back so far, and why now was the right moment to run RPKI on our network:

The RIPE Database Requirements Task Force (DBTF) will organise its third BoF on Wednesday, 5 May 2021 from 16:00-17:30 (UTC+2) via Zoom.

During this BoF, the DBTF will present its latest recommendations and discuss open issues.

The call for nominations from the RIPE NCC service region to fill one seat on the Number Resource Organization (NRO) Number Council (NC) will close on 23 April 2021. Any individual residing within the RIPE NCC service region is eligible for nomination, except Regional Internet Registry (RIR) staff members. Self-nominations are permitted.
