Member Update: March 2024
1. Organisational Update
RIPE NCC Billing Reminder
If you have not yet paid your 2024 invoice, please do so as soon as possible and reach out to us if you have any questions about the Billing Procedure. You can find your invoice via the LIR Portal. We will contact all LIRs with unpaid invoices later this week.
Mandatory Two-Factor Authentication
Two-factor authentication (2FA) will become mandatory on RIPE NCC Access accounts on Wednesday, 27 March. If you have not already done so, enable 2FA on your account.
For accounts that do not have two-factor authentication, when you try to log in from 27 March, you will be prompted to check your inbox and follow the instructions in the email sent to you by the RIPE NCC. Once you have enabled two-factor authentication, you can log in as you usually would.
We will continue to improve the security and usability of RIPE NCC Access accounts over the next few months. We welcome your feedback and suggestions on which features are the most important for you on the RIPE NCC Services Working Group mailing list.
Enhancing Email Delivery at the RIPE NCC
Since February 2024, we have been making changes to the way we deliver email to our members and community, as two of the large email providers, Google and Yahoo, have new requirements for bulk email senders that we need to comply with. On RIPE Labs, we have shared how we implemented changes to our email communications to meet these requirements.
RIPE NCC Charging Scheme 2025
On 20 March, we hosted an Open House for RIPE NCC members to provide input on the RIPE NCC Charging Scheme 2025. You can watch a recording of the discussion and see the presentations. There is also a consultation page on the Charging Scheme process. If you have thoughts on the Charging Scheme, please join the conversation on the Members Discuss mailing list.

Changes to Whois Email Policy
As part of the Whois 1.111 release planned for 28 March, we will make changes to comply with the new requirements for bulk email senders. To meet these requirements, we are going to support unsubscribe and mail bounce detection for Whois emails. This means that users who choose to unsubscribe from Whois will no longer receive any Whois update notifications. Mail bounce detection means that we will no longer send emails to addresses to which our messages were undeliverable. If you wish to still receive emails from Whois, please ensure your email address is up to date.
