The RIPE NCC participated in the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) Regional Development Forum (RDF) for the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), which took place on March 26-27, 2024.
The forum facilitated key discussions and partnerships, notably:
- Meetings with ITU leadership to explore cooperation on capacity building and IPv6 deployment in Central Asia.
- Meetings with Unions of Operators of Armenia and Kazakhstan to share successful programmes and plan joint initiatives.
- Invitation to participate in the formation of the IPv6 Council and Forum in Kazakhstan, following a similar contribution in Uzbekistan.
- Engagement with representatives from Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan for potential collaboration on the RIPE NCC activities.
- Discussion of future cooperation within the RCC Telecommunications and Infocommunication Operators Board.
This engagement builds on the RIPE NCC's established history of cooperation with the ITU and its members across various regions, including Central Asia and the Middle East. General directions of cooperation between the RIPE NCC and ITU were also previously discussed during the meeting of the RIPE NCC leadership with the Secretary General of ITU Doreen Bogdan-Martin last year.
