The Resource Public Key Infrastructure (RPKI) allows Local Internet Registries (LIRs) to request a digital certificate listing the Internet number resources they hold. It offers verifiable proof of holdership of resources's registration by a Regional Internet Registry (RIR).
The practical application of RPKI helps secure Internet routing, particularly BGP origin validation. Sponsoring LIRs and End Users can also request a resource certificate for Provider Independent End User resources. Legacy holders can request resource certificates for Legacy End User resources.
RPKI is a security framework that helps network operators make more informed and secure routing decisions
What is RPKI?Choose between running your own certificate authority (CA) or allowing the RIPE NCC to host your RPKI CA
Using the RPKI systemHolders of Provider Independent (PI) and Legacy End User resources can also use RPKI.
