WG Chair Biographies
Nina Bargisen
MAT Working Group Chair
Nina leads the team at Subspace that is building and maintaining network partner and network vendor relationships in Europe.
With 20+ years experience as an active member of the Global Internet Community, Nina has served on program committees and IXP boards. She is an active industry speaker (having spoken at various industry conferences over the years), and is currently co-chair for the MAT Working Group. Previous to Subspace, she played an instrumental role in securing the delivery of Netflix streaming traffic in EMEA.
Massimo Candela
MAT Working Group Chair
Massimo Candela is a Senior Software Engineer focused on the research and development of applications to guide decisions and to facilitate day-to-day Internet operations. Some of the open source tools he helped develop are the go-to resources for network operators to monitor certain aspects of Internet performance.
Massimo was previously a member of the R&D department of the RIPE NCC. Currently he contributes to the automation and monitoring of the NTT Global IP Network. Massimo is interested in network measurements, monitoring, and data visualisation.
Stephen Strowes
MAT Working Group Chair
Stephen is a Principal Engineer in the Office of the CTO at Fastly, where he works on Internet measurements and analysis of measurement data. He is active in related research venues and regularly serves on program or review committees, most recently PAM, TMA, ANRW and the annual IRTF Applied Networking Research Prize (ANRP).
Prior to Fastly, he worked in the R&D team at the RIPE NCC, where he focused on projects based on RIS, RIPE Atlas and other data sources. Before that, he worked on the widespread deployment and measurement of IPv6 at Yahoo. He received his PhD in Internet routing scalability from the University of Glasgow in 2012.
