IPv4

IPv4 address space for use on the Internet are distributed through a system of hierarchically organised Internet Registries. As a Regional Internet Registry (RIR), the RIPE NCC allocates IPv4 address space to its members, the so-called "Local Internet Registries" (LIR's). The LIRs can assign IPv4 address space to end-users, and to their own network infrastructure. A list of allocated IP addresses is available via FTP.

Requesting IPv4 address space requires RIPE NCC Membership

The RIPE NCC service region covers Europe, the Middle East and parts of Asia.

How to Request IPv4 address space

As a member of the RIPE NCC, you have access to the LIR Portal which provides an easy and secure way to request resources through a number of wizards. The wizards will help you complete, correct and submit your requests on-line. You can also send a request by e-mail to our IP Resource Analysts (IPRAs). Please make sure that your e-mail contains all the correct information to prevent any delays in processing requests.

Any organisation within our service region may acquire address space from an Internet Service Provider or directly from the RIPE NCC. However, organisations, which require IP address space directly from the RIPE NCC, need to become a Local Internet Registry.

It is recommended that only organisations which require large blocks of address space (2048 or more IPv4 addresses) apply for membership, although any organisation can apply.
