Introduction to Internet Resources
As a Regional Internet Registry, the RIPE NCC can allocate and assign Internet Resources (IPv4 and IPv6 address space, Autonomous System (AS) Numbers and Reverse DNS delegations) to organisations in the RIPE NCC service region.
Resource Requests
Organisations wishing to request IP addresses and AS Numbers will generally become a member of the RIPE NCC. These members are called Local Internet Registries (LIRs).
In some cases, an organisation may wish to obtain an assignment of Provider Independent (PI) address space and/or other independent resources, either through a sponsoring LIR or directly from the RIPE NCC. These organisations do not have to become RIPE NCC members and are subject to a different fee structure.
As a RIPE NCC member, you can submit requests for IP address space and AS Numbers through the LIR Portal or by email.
Request for Reverse DNS delegation or delegations under ENUM (delegation of a zone under e164.arpa) do not require membership of the RIPE NCC.
Training Courses
We provide a range of training opportunities to our members. They will give you a better understanding of:
- RIPE policies;
- RIPE NCC procedures; and
- the RIPE Database
making your experience faster and more pleasant.
You can use the training modules in our E-Learning Centre whenever, and as often as you want. Additionally, you can attend a course, where you will be able to meet and talk with trainers as well as with other LIRs.
About Quality Auditing
We actively check the quality and validity of registry data and make sure that we apply assignment guidelines equally. Audit activity promotes the consistent and fair application of assignment criteria with regard to the registration and conservation of address space and aggregation of routing information. This activity also helps identify procedures that cause difficulties. Impartiality, quality and confidentiality will be of highest priority.
