A RIPE meeting is a 5-day event where members of Internet service
providers and network operators from Europe and the surrounding
regions gather. The main purpose of the RIPE Meetings is to discuss
technical and policy issues affecting Internet administration and
operation in the RIPE NCC service region and beyond. RIPE Meetings
are held three times a year . The usual meetings take place at the
end of January, May and September of each year. The locations often
vary, nevertheless, it was agreed to hold at least two meetings
a year in Amsterdam. The number of participants at each meeting
is constantly growing and has recently been approximately 400 participants
per meeting. The meeting is open to everyone. Although the meeting
is primarily technical, it is also a social event in the sense that
it gives a chance for people who communicate regularly on an electronic
basis, to meet face to face to exchange information. For this particular
reason, we have scheduled long lunches and frequent coffee breaks
during the meetings.Social events are also organised for all the
participants that attend RIPE Meetings.
