RIPE 43 Dinner
AN EVENING TO REMEMBER
The RIPE 43 dinner will be held on Thursday, 12 September 2002 at the
Gourmet Restaurant Fotis Melathron in Rhodes. Dinner starts at 19.30 and
will last until 23.30.
Fotis Melathron is the most impressive restaurant of the island and is
situated in the Old Town in an ancient two floor building with a multi-leveled
stone made courtyard.
It is a special place because of its history: The Turkish Sultan Süleyman succeeded
his father as sultan in September 1520 and began his reign with campaigns against
the Christian powers in central Europe and the Mediterranean. Rhodes fell to
him, long under the rule of the Knights of St. John, in 1522. The restaurant
used to be the residence of the Sultan during his stay in Rhodes.

How to reach Fotis Melathron?
There will be busses available in front of the hotel. You will be
picked up at 18.30 from the hotel and 23.30 from the restaurant for transport
back to the hotel.
