Workshop: Basic BGP Routing

Synopsis: This is a technical workshop, made up of lecture and hands-on lab work to teach the skills required for the configuration and operation of large scale networks that make up the Internet.
Who should attend: Technical staff who are now building or operating a wide area service provider network with international and/or multiprovider connectivity, or considering participation in an Internet Exchange point. Participants are required to bring laptops.
Pre-requisites: It is assumed that the workshop participants know how to use a router command line interface, do basic router configuration and have a working knowledge of an IGP (OSPF or ISIS) and BGP fundamentals. It is assumed that the students know how to do basic router config.
Workshop: IPv6 Basics

This workshop will introduce IPv6, look at the differences with IPv4 and, if you bring your own laptop, let you connect to the IPv6-enabled WiFi network and try it yourself. Then we will also introduce the transition mechanism and provide some hints and hands-on training about how to deploy IPv6 in your own organisation. Obviously, it is recommended that you bring your own laptop with Windows XP SP1 or a newer Microsoft OS. The slides will provide info for other operating systems as well.
The first two hours or so can also accommodate non-technical attendees such as government staff, CEOs, etc.

Workshop: IPv6 in Microsoft Environment

This workshop will consist of showing the IPv6 configuration in Windows 2008 R2 / Windows 7 environment. Participants will configure machines to run on IPv6, install services / server roles and configure a complete IPv6 environment. They will also take a deeper overview of how to configure IP management in a business environment and configure static routing. The workshop will use the same slides as in Configuring IPv6 in Windows server 2008 R2 – video tutorial.
Every participant will have two virtual machines available: one Windows server 2008 R2 with two NICs and Windows 7 with a single NIC in the internal network. Participants should be equipped with a laptop and remote desktop connection client to be able to connect to servers that will be located in Slovenia.
