Hi,

I have 2 questions regarding routing:

1. Should an end-node (not a router) have RIP enabled on its interfaces? What should its behaviour be, with and without RIP enabled.

2. Consider this set up:

      —---------- —----------
      | R1 |--------------------------| R2 |
      —---------- —----------
                ^ ^
           172.17.2.13 172.17.2.14
          (ff.ff.ff.0) (ff.ff.ff.0)

R1 has a static route configured . To reach 172.17.100.1 next hop is 172.17.4.1
R1 and R2 have RIP1 enabled on their interfaces.

Does R1 advertise 172.17.100.0 also to R2, alongwith advertisement for host route 172.17.100.1 ?

Thanks in advance for your help
Anumita.
