Apologies from me for not making my posting sooner regarding the reasons
I stepped down. I had many people approach me at the last meeting asking
me for reasons, so I decided to post on here too.
I was elected as co-Chair of the LIR-WG two years ago at the Bologna
RIPE meeting, and my aim was to get heavily involved on a platform of
'bringing RIPE and the NCC up to date with the industry and newer industry
requirements for the benefit of the Internet community'
Many thanks for supporting me in that election and throughout my term as
co-Chair. The industry has gone through immense changes in these two years
and in addition to playing catch up, I believe that the NCC have made
great strides in the right direction. There is still, IMHO, a long way
to go, and I fully trust Hans Peter, Gert and Andrea in steering the
Working Group and aiding the NCC through further changes.
My own circumstances changed in the past two years and like many other
organisations, my own companies started to feel the pinch of the
downturn. Thus, for the latter part of last year and for the next 2-3
months I have been and will be spending time on restructuring my various
businesses and as such I am unable to spend much time on other issues.
To me, the priveledge of being elected as a co-Chair meant I had certain
responsibilities - to the NCC and to the RIPE Community. By not being
able to spend quality time on issues, I would not have been able to
fulfill my role to it's full extent.
I thus came to the decision back in December that I would not stand for
re-election this time and also mentioned to Hans Peter during the RIPE
meeting that I would not be accepting any nominations for me. I do hope
to restand at some point in the future.
Although I am no longer involved at the co-Chair level, I am more than
happy to be contacted via email or directly at RIPE meetings (which I
still plan to attend) regarding any advice/pointers.
Once again, many thanks for your support and see you at the next RIPE
meeting. Roll on Barcelona.
Regards
Denesh
