RIPE Region Hostcount for May 2001

Dear All,

below is the hostcount for May 2001. 

The table shows an increase since last month of over 
400,000 (or 2.9%) to a total of almost 14,265,000 hosts
in the DNS in Europe and surrounding areas.

The pt domain shows the highest increase for May with
approximately 100,000 hosts more than in April.

- Brief Notes on this Hostcount -

  - the January, 2000 data had to be reused for uk due
    to AXFR problems with co.uk until recently and disk
    problems this month.
  - the April, 2001 data had to be reused for all of
    the following TLDs due to a large number of disk
    and other problems:

      ci, eg, es, fr, gr, hr, hu, il,
      it, kg, nl, no, ro, se, sm, tr 

    We expect to be able to do a more complete count for June.
