Hi All,
The .EU domain name, sought from ICANN by the European Commission, has
been in discussion for over a year now. To date no Charter has been
proposed for the name and Commission representatives have indicated that
policy should come through dialogue with the European Internet Community.
In an attempt to move this process on I have produced a draft Charter for
an .EU Policy Oversight Committee which is visible in English, French and
German at www.eupoc.org. I would be most grateful for suggestions for
improvement of this document and also for your support for the principle
of involvement of the wider Internet community in policy matters. There is
a support page on the site.
Is this being requsted as a ccTLD or as gTLD? If ccTLD - it breaks the
existing model of ccTLDs limited to countries or islands and not
representing regions.

I hope an improved version of this Charter will be discussed at the EC-POP
meeting in Brussels on March 1st 2001.
Thank you for your attention. Please feel free to contact me directly if
you have specific questions.
