Dear All,
below is the hostcount for May 1999. My apologies for the
extreme lateness of this report.
The table shows an increase since last month of over 400,000
(or 4.8%) to a total of almost 8,750,000 hosts in the DNS in
Europe and surrounding areas.
The uk domain shows the highest increase for May with
approximately 280,000 hosts more than in April.

- Brief Notes on this Hostcount -
The large drop in hosts for uk last month was found to be due
to a major provider refusing zone transfers for their domains.
They have kindly allowed us to scan their domains this month,
leading to the unusually large increase in the overall numbers
and especially those for uk this month.
Operational problems with ch meant that last month's data had
to be used again this month.
md and td had to be omitted from the count this month due to
zone transfer blocking by their nameservers, I will attempt
to contact the operators to rectify this.
