when we talk about a link between two routers that will be saturated
immediately, atm doesn't give advantage over sonet. the situation
becomes different, when one wants to build a mesh network where the
traffic load betweeen the various nodes of the mesh varies and the
physical interface speed is fast enough to handle traffic between
several nodes simultaneously.
