What I actually said was we were the first to implement a Europe to
*South* African (the country, not the continent/region) link. How a
statement prefixed with "as far as I am aware" can be taken to be
"obviously false" is in any case quite beyond me.
I included information about our connectivity because I find similar
information from others interesting, and there appeared to be
interest in this from the attendees. Round-trip times are an
engineering quality metric I find useful, and reducing these was a
major motivation for this link.
It's worth pointing out I would not have taken so much time to
describe our European infrastructure if I did not find myself
repeatedly up against others who use the disinformation that PIPEX
are not a pan-European operator as a feeble excuse not to peer with
us.
I'm happy to keep the marketing out of these meetings if you will
keep the anti-marketing out.
