ANNOUNCEMENT OF THE LONDON INTERNET EXCHANGE
JANET and PIPEX hereby jointly announces that resources will be
made available to facilitate the establishment of the pilot London
Internet Exchange. It is planned to have a Route Server at the pilot
London Internet Exchange in operation as soon as possible, subject to
availability of the appropriate software and infrastructure support.
The pilot London Internet Exchange will be available to all interested
Internet service providers. The connections at the pilot London
Internet Exchange would be made available, during 1994, on the basis
that the connecting organisation pays only marginal line and connection
costs.
It is the intent that the London Internet Exchange will be a part of
a Distributed Global Internet eXchange facility.
