RIPE NCC - List of IP Local Registries
======================================
This is a list of European IP Local Registries known to the RIPE NCC.
It is intended to clarify who you should contact if you need IP network
numbers.
All of the organisations listed allocate IP network numbers. The previously
centralised procedures for obtaining IP network numbers from the Global
Internet Registry (known as the InterNIC, formerly the DDN NIC) have been
replaced by a distributed system. Blocks of Internet Network numbers are
now delegated to the RIPE NCC, who in turn delegates blocks of numbers to
Local Registries (IR's). The local IR's in turn, make most of the IP network
number assignents in Europe.
Local IR's are of two types. There are "Non-service provider" IR's and
and "Service provider" IR's. If you do not intend to connect to the Internet
in the foreseeable future or, at the present time, you do not have an IP
service provider selected, then you should contact the "Non-service provider"
registry for your country. If one does not appear to be listed, then you can
direct any requests to the RIPE NCC. Alternatively if you have a service
provider selected, you should contact them if you need IP numbers (there
are some exceptions, since not all IP service providers allocate IP numbers).
Some organisations appear twice in the list. This is because they fulfill
the two functions outlined above. This is done in a fair and unbiased way.
The list is sorted alphabetically by country code and the non-service
provider registries are always listed last.
There are no guarantees that this list is comprehensive. If you find that
any of the information represented here is incorrect we would like to know
about it as soon as possible.
