Dear Sir/Madam,

I am attempting to edit the inetnum object as per below,

----
CREATION REQUESTED FOR:

inetnum: 85.31.168.0 - 85.31.168.255
netname: IPLAY
descr: IPLAY Operation
country: GB
admin-c: AO1121-RIPE
tech-c: AF3669-RIPE
status: ASSIGNED PA
mnt-by: MNT-AMO-IPLAY
changed: amarath.ou@localhost 20050714
source: RIPE

Unfortunately the change failed due to "the proper
authorisation for any of the mentioned maintainers".

Ca you please advise on any reference material/document or process which may assist in authorising the mnt-by object.
For this object, you need authorisation from the parent object:

inetnum: 85.31.168.0 - 85.31.175.255
netname: UK-DIGITALBRIDGES-20050713
descr: Digital Bridges Ltd
country: GB
org: ORG-DBL1-RIPE
admin-c: AO1121-RIPE
tech-c: AO1121-RIPE
status: ALLOCATED PA
mnt-by: RIPE-NCC-HM-MNT
mnt-lower: IPLAY
mnt-routes: IPLAY
notify: ops@localhost
changed: hostmaster@localhost 20050713
source: RIPE

Since it has "mnt-lower: IPLAY", you need to add the password from this maintainer:

mntner: IPLAY
descr: Digital Bridges Ltd t/a IPLAY
admin-c: AO1121-RIPE
upd-to: ops@localhost
auth: MD5-PW $1$QkJrGpFZ$KRCKdc9MoMvFW7FAfadJ//
mnt-by: IPLAY
referral-by: RIPE-DBM-MNT
changed: hostmaster@localhost 20050711
source: RIPE

You also need authorisation from the maintainer on the new object, so you must include the password from this maintainer:

mntner: MNT-AMO-IPLAY
descr: Amarath Ou
admin-c: AO1121-RIPE
upd-to: ops@localhost
auth: MD5-PW $1$mTJqR//f$eNnsXyLXC6UXRCSLnfpHd/
mnt-by: MNT-AMO-IPLAY
referral-by: RIPE-DBM-MNT
changed: ops@localhost 20050713
source: RIPE

The easiest way to do this is to add:

password: your_passphrase

To the update.

If you want to know more, you may want to go through the "getting started" guide:

http://www.ripe.net/ripe/docs/db-start.html

Also, you can always contact ripe-dbm@localhost for assistance.
