I just wished to add an addendum to this conversation regarding the
abuse@localhost address, and indeed the ISP itself, which was
the start of this conversation.

It would appear that the abuse@localhost address does indeed
exist, however a different error, I think related to a Verizon mail
server being listed on at least one RBL lead to the issues that were
being seen by the original poster.  The bounce message that was
sent was:

Diagnostic code: smtp;550 5.7.1 You are not allowed to send emails!

This does not, I feel, invalidate the conversation that has just been
held on the list and hopefully there will be some useful output, however
I did wish to make it clear that the details listed in awalnet's WHOIS
info are not false.
