Guess how many mails from those ignorant delvelopers or even users
doing this by hand, I have seen over the past few years. And what is
really annoying is the fact that our abuse desk cannot help them as 99,9%
(really!) are complaints sent to changed: records in PERSON templates
for persons we no longer have any affiliation with.

This is exactly my point.
Someone has to slap someone to implement it and while we do so isn't it
better to slap them in a direction that is common to the whole of the
Internet but to one unique database and format used for exactly one RIR?

All your other points, that implementation effort is needed for handling of
RP records, just as well hold for the to be created abuse records in the
RIPE whois database.
