sprint spam

We got an interesting response from the International Sales Manager of
Sprint regarding how to deal with spam:

Maybe Mr Perez-Ponce's 'expertise' in junk mail filters could be applied to
Sprint's outgoing mail servers so the spam could be stopped at source ;)

Seriously though, he appears to be suggesting that the problem isn't Sprint
knowingly hosting spammers, rather that we don't know how to use our email
packages properly to filter out their spam. I find it staggering that a
Sprint manager appears to be unaware of their AUP or the problems that spam
causes in terms of bandwidth and server resources, especially given Sprint's
history. If customers are supposed to read and understand the AUP, surely
the senior employees of the company should too?
