I fail to see any harm in not accepting mail from dial-up lines that 
are not your own.

Legitime users will send thru their isps mail server since it gets them 
off-line faster and it is generally easier to configure. Those who want to 
avoid attention will send directly, and those are likely to be spammers.

If your users (for example customers) have a legitime reason for sending 
directly to your smtp server, for example because you use extensions to 
the smtp protocol, surely you know yourself not to block ip-addresses 
in DUL?
