all this is a social experiment to see how many bureaucrats,
amateur politicians (though the professionals are entering the
fray), bureaucrats, lawyers, and just plain slimeballs it takes to
replace one part-time computer scientist (whose 60th birthday would
have been last wednesday).

To some extent i have to agree with you Randy, but i also think we where
taken advantage of by the suits. Once our computer scientist had passed on
the community panicked, the last thing we wanted was a government agency
running the show and the bureaucrats knew this. The bureaucrats held out
their hands and we grabbed hold out of the fire into the fire some might
say. But the bottom line is we can not change it now and to some extent it
has stabilized, what we have to keep doing is not let them run the show and
make sure it still works for us from the bottom up. Its easy to be bitter
but lets channel that energy into making it better not complaining. The NCC
lost their way for a bit and with some strong recommendations from the
community pulled them selves back on track (not maybe all the way but at
least what we have now is better than before the recommendations). Remember
we ultimately hold the purse strings ;)
BTW its good to be back.
