I got a note in from John Williams at Aston saying they've used subnetting
on LAN Workplace. Guess you could check version no. with him....

we use class C subnetting (on a subnetted class B network) and have for some
time with packet drivers and LAN WorkPlace for DOS. What it doesn't do is arp
properly and we have to use proxyarp.
