During the IETF, I learned that a class A network number (network 57.0.0.0) has been assigned to an organisation (SITA) under the condition that airlines will get any address space required from this allocation. If you receive an application, please forward them to SITA. If there are any difficulties, please forward the request to Cheers, Geert Jan From poole at eunet.ch Wed Aug 3 17:11:59 1994 From: poole at eunet.ch (poole at eunet.ch) Date: Wed, 3 Aug 1994 17:11:59 +0200 (MET DST) Subject: Address space requests to airline companies In-Reply-To: <9408031453.AA25349@belegen.ripe.net> from "Geert Jan de Groot" at Aug 3, 94 04:53:17 pm Message-ID: <199408031512.RAA08445@eunet.ch> > Dear local-ir's, > > We have received a number of IP address space requests for airline > companies in the past. I know of at least one airline that is not a network customer of SITA and forcing them to become one is probably not in the cards. All we want is that any airline is pointed to SITA first. If this does not work local registries should notify the NCC. We will take note of the reasons and probably assign address space (thru local registries if appropriate). We will docuemnt these cases in order to prevent re-occurrence of such an arrangement if it turns out un-workable. Please note that the NCC was not consulted by IANA before this assignment was made. We would probably have advised against it. It seems to include some outdated references; according to the current RFC index RFC 1467 obsoletes RFC 1367 and RFC 1519 obsoletes RFC 1338 btw the registry leaflet lists RFC 1519 correctly (while it neither mentions 1467 nor the obsolete 1367; but that might be intensional).
