I'm sorry, I do wish you were right, but at least from 2006 and
probably already from 2003 or so, and in my opinion and experience,
you are definitely wrong.

Sending html gives better results and is appreciated by most receivers
(the ability to see a "face" smiley - even a moving/gasping smiley!
Many mail receivers *like* this!). But filtering html *will* cause
loss of mail other then from spammers and clueless people[1] generally
speaking. YMMV: if that does not apply to you (as well may be the
case), my congratulations.

There is always the choice to define "clueless people" as "people
sending HTML-mail". *Then* you are right.  :-)
