That's why the mailing list manager named Sympa do not show archives
unless a cookie is sent by the client. Currently email sniffers do not
accept cookies ;-). This is a effective protection.

You can have a look to a exemple :

Sympa (http://www.sympa.org) is compatible with qmail which seems to be
used by Ripe and it is GPL.
