RRC14 - PAIX - Palo Alto

RRC14 is located at the PAIX, Palo Alto. It is the fourteenth RRC to come on line and has been operational since Dec 2004. RRC14 has an interface on the shared PAIX medium (running both IPv4 and IPv6) and collects routing information from all PAIX members willing to peer.

All PAIX members are requested to peer with RRC14. Peering with the RRC (AS12654) is to collect routing information only and not for traffic exchange.

RIS Peering Policy

Please announce all your BGP routes to the RRC, except at LINX, AMS-IX, NL-IX and GN-IX. On these exchanges, please announce what you typically announce to peers. Expect to see a small number of prefixes (a subset of those listed in the AS12654:RS-RIS object in the RIPE Database) being announced in your direction. These are "Routing Beacons", mainly used for BGP convergence and flap damping studies. A very small amount of traffic to or from these prefixes may be seen as part of reachability tests.

The use of TCP MD5 Signatures on IPv4 BGP sessions is supported on all RIS Route Collectors. MD5 is not supported on IPv6 sessions.

Guidelines regarding Routing Beacons: We would appreciate it if our peers would provide transit for the beacon prefixes. If possible, please treat these prefixes as much like a customer prefix as you can and announce them to your peers, customers and transit providers as appropriate.

Participating peers will be listed on the RIS web pages. All BGP traffic will be recorded, stored in the RIS Database and made available to the Internet community.
