How is my registration (ASN) recorded in the RIPE Whois Database?

The registration has been recorded in the RIPE Whois Database as an aut-num object. POCs (points of contact) have been also recorded as person objects and new NIC handles have been generated for them.

You may check your record and associated POCs by querying the RIPE Whois Database at http://www.ripe.net/db/whois/whois.html and searching for your ASN in the AS# form (where # is the ASN, e.g. AS3333).

How to update information in my aut-num object?

Your aut-num object is protected by a mntner object created by the Database Administration for this purpose. In order to update the aut-num you must include the password corresponding to the "auth:" information recorded in the mntner object.

This is done using a "password:" pseudo-attribute. The value of this attribute is a clear-text password. It can appear anywhere in the body of the message, but not within the mail headers. Line continuation is not allowed for this attribute.

For example:

password: my clear-text password

How to obtain the clear-text password for the mntner protecting my aut-num object?

A clear text password can be requested by sending an e-mail to er-transfer@ripe.net with the following in the subject line: AUT-NUM:<as#> without any spaces (# is the number of your AS).

For example:

Subject: AUT-NUM:AS3333

A reply with the clear-text password will be sent to the contacts listed in admin-c's "e-mail:" of your aut-num object. Please refer to the ticket number in the reply in the future correspondence with us.

Once you have got the clear-text password you are able to update your aut-num object. Please note that person object that represent POCs are locked by RIPE-ERX-MNT mntner created by the RIPE NCC. We advise you to create new person objects with up-to-date contact information and replace references from "admin-c:" and "tech-c:" attribute of the aut-num with nic-handles of the newly created ones. As soon as you do this please notify
er-transfer@ripe.net so we can delete the old records.
