Bahrain Basics:
- Time: GMT +3.
- Electricity: Electrical current is 230 volts, 50Hz. Bahrain uses UK-style three-pin power outlets.
- Language: Arabic is the official language, although English is widely understood and is used by most businesses.
- Communications: The international direct dialling code for Bahrain is 973, and the outgoing code 00. There are no city or area codes. Public phone booths are easily located, some accepting freely available phone cards and some coins. The country is covered by a GSM 900 and 1800 mobile phone network. There are several Internet service providers and Internet is available at most of the larger hotels in Manama.

Information About the Airport
Bahrain International Airport is located on Al Muharraq, an island on the northern tip of Bahrain. The airport is about four miles (6km) north of Manama, 15 minutes from the city centre.
- Currency exchange facilities are available at banks located in the departure, arrival, mezzanine, transit and public areas of the terminal.
- Restaurant facilities, including a new fast food outlet, are located in the transit and mezzanine areas. A snack bar and coffee shop are available in the public area.
- On the departures concourse between Gates 14 and 15 is the Bahrain duty free shopping complex.
- The airport also has a post office, children's playroom, prayer room and a communications centre.

Travel
by Taxi From the Airport
- Taxis are available at all times of the day from the front of the terminal at the ground floor level. A 50% surcharge may be applicable on services after midnight.

- All taxis in Bahrain are metered and you should ensure the meter is operating when you engage a taxi.
