Dear Baher,
It’s really good to hear from you. ICANN’s participation is definitely key and your
efforts to involve the operators in Egypt are also very much appreciated. Also, if you’d like to give
a workshop on the topics mentioned please send me an abstract as well as
details of how long and how many engineers you can deliver those to. As soon as
the website is ready, we’ll post information for signup on it so that we
can register people. As to the mandate, this is very similar to SANOG and
NANOG. Our efforts are for the community and the NOG will be community driven.
I’m just arranging things so that we can have a start somewhere. I’ll
send you more information as it becomes available. Also, any organization that
would like to formally participate, once again, please don’t be shy to
let yourself be known.
Regards,
Fahad.

Dear
Fahd,
I’m
here confirming that ICANN will be keen to participate in this coming meeting
and share with participants topics pertaining to domain names and IP
addressing.
On the
other hand, I would like to update the network operators in Egypt about this
new initiative and to encourage their techies to take part in there. If you got
more information about the group’s mandate, role, or if you can point me
to a URL, please let me know.
Regards,
Baher

Dear
Ahmed,
I would
like to thank you for your suggestion and support. You may not be aware of
this, but during the last RIPE regional meeting, efforts to establish a NOG
have been initiated and recently, a date was set for the first meeting. For
everyone on this list, this is now in April from the 2nd to the 4th.
Anyone interested in speaking, please let me, or Paul from RIPE NCC who is
supporting the initiative now. Anyone interested in helping us organize, please
feel free.
Sponsors, don’t be shy. More details to follow.
Regards,
Fahad.

[ncc-regional-middle-east] RIPE NCC Regional Meeting Bahrain: Minutes online
Hello everyone,
My name is Ahmed Maged, i work with a Networking gear vendor, before that with
an ISP, i am
glad something like this took place in the region finally and i will make sure
i attend the next one.
I was thinking of grouping network operators and vendors of the region to a
nog, that would be menanog, middle east and north africa NOG, to discuss
operational experiences and new technologies, nothing related to my position at
the vendor, just because i know how this region needs one because i was in that
place one day where i wish something like that were there.
I already have the domain www.menanog.org,
i want people to work with me on that, if you think this is not going to work,
please tell me your reasons and if it conflicts somehow with RIPE-NCC-Middle
East, tell me as well.
Your suggestions and opinions is highly welcomed.
Regards,
Ahmed Maged
