One of the RIPE NCC's key responsibilities as a Regional Internet Registry (RIR) is to keep the RIPE Database correct, complete, and up-to-date.
Holders of legacy Internet number resources are encouraged to maintain their records in the RIPE Database. Keeping registration data current can help network operators to make better operational decisions and prevents resources from being hijacked.
If you have any questions about updating your records, you can email legacy AT ripe DOT net.
Registering Legacy Address Space With an LIR
At the moment, it is not possible to register legacy address space with an LIR.
The policy proposal 2012-07, "RIPE NCC Services to Legacy Internet Resource Holders" is currently being discussed by the RIPE community. If accepted, the proposal would provide a framework for the maintenance of legacy resource data in the RIPE Registry and the delivery of services to legacy holders.
