Dear RIPE NCC Member,

The Executive Board of the RIPE NCC Association is pleased to invite you to the General Meeting (GM) of the RIPE NCC membership to be held on Friday, 7 May 2004 in Amsterdam, the Netherlands.

Registration

Please note that registration for the RIPE Meeting does not include registration for the GM. You must register separately. Registration opened Thursday, 25 March 2004.

A list of registered attendees will be published regularly on the RIPE NCC web site. You will receive confirmation containing your membership status and voting rights upon your arrival to the meeting.

Please note that candidate members are welcome to attend the meeting but are not permitted to vote according to article [16.3] of the RIPE NCC Articles of Association. Members who are not able to attend the GM but still want to vote can do so by means of proxy voting as per article [16.4]. Please also note that the meeting can only pass resolutions that have been submitted and published according to articles [15.3] and [15.4]. The RIPE NCC Articles of Association can be found at:

RIPE NCC Executive Board Member Elections

The term for the following RIPE NCC Executive Board members expires:

  • János Zsakó
  • Nigel Titley

Voting for the appointment of two RIPE NCC Executive Board members will take place at the upcoming meeting. Both vacant seats are for a three-year term. Please submit your nomination following the guidelines outlined in article [7] of the RIPE NCC Articles of Association. Nominations and support for nominees should be sent to <agm-nominations@ripe.net>. Support for a nomination can only be made by a RIPE NCC member.

Please note that you must be a registered LIR contact to support a nomination and include the following information:

You are encouraged to submit nominations prior to Friday, 16 April 2004. Please find an excerpt of the general guidelines of this process included in the text below:

Excerpt from the RIPE NCC Articles of Association:

Article [7.1] The executive board of the association shall consist of at least three and at most five natural persons. They shall be member of the board in a personal capacity and do not have to be members of the association. Employees of the association can not be appointed member of the executive board.

Article [7.2] The members of the executive board shall be appointed by the general meeting from a list of nominees to be drawn up by the members.

A nomination for the appointment of a member of the executive board shall need the written support of at least five members. If three weeks before the general meeting the number of candidates does not exceed the number of vacancies, the executive board shall have to nominate one or more candidates so that the total number of proposed candidates shall exceed the number of members of the executive board to be appointed by the general meeting.

Article [8.3] The membership in the executive board shall become effective at the end of the general meeting at which the member is appointed and shall automatically terminate at the end of the annual meeting in the third calendar year after the year in which the member was appointed. The member shall be eligible for immediate re-appointment.
