RIPE NCC Information Services provide a deeper insight into the workings of the Internet on both protocol and application level. As a neutral and credible source of network and Internet-related information, the RIPE NCC supplies timely, accurate and tailored information. The Information Services we provide are not only useful to operators and the Internet community but also to a range of audiences including governments, regulators and journalists.

Test Traffic Measurements (TTM)
TTM measures key parameters of connectivity between a site and other points on the Internet. Routing vectors, one-way delay and packet-loss, Internet Protocol Packet Delay Variation (IPDV) and bandwidth are measured and additoinal parameters are currently being developed. By using dedicated measurement devices called "test-boxes", TTM makes it possible to proactively and continuously monitor the connectivity of networks to other parts of the Internet. |

DNS Monitoring Service (DNSMON)
DNSMON provides a comprehensive, objective and up-to-date overview on the service quality of root servers, as well as some participating country code Top Level Domains (ccTLDs) as well as some participating Top Level Domains (TLDs). The service's main features include a large number of probes and innovative data
presentation. DNSMON is available to TLD and root operators only but the data is available to the Internet community. |

Routing Information Service (RIS)
The RIS collects Border Gateway Protocol (BGP) routing information at several major exchange points in near real time and stores it in a database. An interface similar to a "looking glass" provides multiple views and information about specific times in the past. |

Hostcount
The first
RIPE NCC hostcount took place in October 1990 and involved just 19 TLDs. Since then, the hostcount has expanded to include around 100 TLDs. Each month, we coordinate the collection of data from the DNS zones of TLDs in our service region. We publish summary statistics derived from this data that are available to the public. |
