Starting on 1 November 2012, Merit, a non-profit research organisation, will temporarily use and announce 2a00:0000::/12 as part of its darknet experiment. The range was allocated to the RIPE NCC by the IANA.
A similar experiment was also performed by Merit for IPv4.
