What is Hostcount?
The first
RIPE NCC Hostcount took place in October 1990 and involved just 19 Top Level Domains (TLDs). Since then,
our Hostcount has expanded to include around one hundred TLDs.
- Each month we coordinate
the collection of data from the DNS zones of TLDs in our service region
- We publish summary statistics derived from this
data for the Internet community

The RIPE NCC is currently testing a replacement for the Hostcount service.
Hostcount++ will eventually replace Hostcount. To see statistics generated
by Hostcount++ please visit this link. These pages also contain comparison tables
for both Hostcount and Hostcount++.
