Biographical Information:
Dave Wilson has worked for HEAnet, the Irish National Research &
Education Network since 1996, and has been attending RIPE Meetings
since 1998.
Dave's day job concerns planning of the national IP
research network, including a close focus on areas such as BGP
policy and IPv6. Dave also participates actively at RIPE Meetings,
having been chair of the RIPE netnews-wg, and in the pan-european
research network GÉANT2 (having presented at Terena about the possible
impacts on LIRs of new Bandwidth on Demand technologies). Dave helped
to found the Irish IPv6 task force, which has support of the national
government there and presents at events nationally and internationally
on that subject.
Motivation for Nomination:
Dave Wilson combines many years of experience with a sense of
genuine interest and commitment to the Internet and its successful
use and operation. His proven dedication and his many innovations
are attested to by all his colleagues. In addition, Dave's integrity
and sense of values are deeply held and widely respected, and have
generated a level of trust in him and, by extension, in the company
he works for, HEAnet. I am honoured to work with Dave and commend
him to the RIPE community for election to the NRO.
