On 2 December 2005, during the ASO AC regular meeting, Mr. Sanford George was selected as the Address Supporting Organization appointee to the ICANN Nominating Committee (NomCom) for the year 2006.

APNIC EC appoints Mr Mao Wei to NRO NC
9 December 2005
APNIC is pleased to announce that the APNIC Executive Council has appointed Mr Mao Wei of China Network Information Centre (CNNIC) to be the representative of the APNIC region on the Number Resource Organization (NRO) Number Council.

RIPE NCC Reappoints Wilfried Woeber as NRO NC Member

The RIPE NCC Executive Board has reappointed Wilfried Woeber to the Number Resource Organization (NRO) Number Council as a representative of the RIPE NCC region.

ARIN Appoints New Member to NRO NC

ARIN is pleased to announce Martin Hannigan has been appointed to the NRO NC from the ARIN region. He will serve a three-year term beginning January 1, 2006. Martin will fill the seat being vacated by Lee Howard at the end of this year.

LACNIC's new representative to the ASO Address Council/NRO Number Council
4 July 2005
Francisco Obispo will take the place that will be left vacant on the ASO Address Council by Julián Dunayevich, who is ending his term in December 2005. Francisco will hold this position from January 1, 2006, until December 31, 2008.

Call for Nominations: NRO NC ARIN Region
3 May 2005
ARIN opened nominations to fill one seat on the NRO Number Council / ASO Address Council that becomes vacant with the expiration of Lee Howard's term on December 31, 2005.

AfriNIC new representatives on the NRO Number Council
28 April 2005
At their recent meeting held in Maputo, the AfriNIC members voted in their new NRO NC representatives . Jean Robert Hountomey will be serving a 3-year term on the NRO NC and Sylvia Geha Kezengwa will be serving a 2-year term.
Also, the AfriNIC Board appointed Alan Barret to be the 3rd representative of the AfriNIC region on the NRO Number Council. Mr. Barret will be serving a 1-year term.

Recognition of AfriNIC as the Fifth Regional Internet Registry [PDF}

On 8 April 2005, during the ICANN Board meeting in Mar del Plata, Argentina, AfriNIC was finally recognized as the fifth Regional Internet Registry (RIR).

Address Council appoints Hans Petter Holen as chair of ASO Address Council for 2005

At the recent meeting on Thursday, 5 January 2005, the Address Council elected Hans Petter Holen as the new chair of the ASO Address Council for the year 2005.
NRO Executive Council (EC) Announced
31 December 2004

On October 24, 2003, the four Regional Internet Registries (RIRs) - APNIC, ARIN, LACNIC and RIPE NCC - entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to form the Number Resource Organization (NRO). The purpose of the NRO is to undertake joint activities of the RIRs, including joint technical projects, liaison activities and policy co-ordination. More NRO News

ARIN appoints Lee Howard as interim ASO address council representative
14 December 2004

The ARIN Board of Trustees has appointed Lee Howard as an interim member of the Address Supporting Organization Address Council (ASO AC) from the ARIN region. He will serve a one-year term starting 1 January 2005. This was decided at the board meeting on 10 December 2004. This appointment is part of the transition of the Address Council to its new organisation, described in the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) and the Number Resource Organization (NRO). This MoU was signed on 21 October 2004.

At the meeting on 3 November 2004, the Address Council of the ASO selected Hartmut Glaser as candidate for the ICANN 2005 Nominating Committee


LACNIC selects Hartmut Glaser as representative to ASO address council
2 November 2004

In line with the new ASO MoU, during its meeting of October 26, 2004, the LACNIC Board of Directors picked Hartmut Glaser to take up the position of representative to the ASO Address Council from the LACNIC region. Mr. Glaser will occupy the seat from January 1, 2005 to December 31, 2007.


Election of representative to the ICANN ASO address council from LACNIC region
1 November 2004

LACNIC is pleased to announce that on 28 October 2004 during the LACNIC VII Open Policy Forum, Mr. Sebastian Bellagamba was elected as representative to the ICANN ASO Address Council from the Latin America and the Caribbean region. Sebastian Bellagamba will fill the seat being vacated by Raimundo Beca, who was recently elected to the ICANN Board. Sebastian's term begins from his election and continues until 3 December 2006.


ARIN Elects Sanford George to ICANN ASO AC

ARIN is pleased to announce that Sanford H. George has been elected to the ICANN ASO AC from the ARIN region. He will serve a three-year term beginning January 1, 2005. Sanford will fill the seat being vacated by Eric Decker at the end of this year.

A new Memorandum of Understanding between ICANN and the Number Resource Organization, on behalf of the Regional Internet Registries, was signed on 21 October 2004, at ARIN XIV in Reston, Virginia.

Nominations For Representatives to the ASO Address Council from the LACNIC Region
28 September 2004

According to the conditions established by LACNIC´s Board of Directors and meeting all the requirements, Mr. Sebastián Bellagamba has been nominated to occupy the position of Chair of LACNIC Public Forum. The election will be held on October 27th, 2004 in San José, Costa Rica during LACNIC´s Open Policy Forum.

ASO community considering global IANA to RIR IPv6 address allocation policy
16 September 2004

Through the Regional Internet number Registry public policy forums, the ASO community is considering global policy proposals that will govern how IANA allocates IPv6 address blocks to the RIRs. Proposals have been introduced in all of the RIR communities. The proposals are currently being discussed through RIR mailing lists, and the global IPv6 mailing list. ICANN encourages all who are interested in IPv6 policy to join these discussions and participate in the RIR public meetings where this issue has been added to the agenda

Global Addressing Policy forwarded to ICANN Board of Directors
3 September 2004

The Address Council submitted the Global Addressing Policy ASO-001-2 for the approval of the ICANN Board of Directors. The policy describes the procedure by which IANA will make IPv4 allocations to the Regional Internet Registries (RIRs).

ASO-001-2 has been approved in accordance with the four RIR's local policy development processes. As a result of that effort, the policy was endorsed and submitted by the Number Resource Organization to the ASO Address Council.

ARIN calls for nominations to ASO Address Council
20 July 2004

ARIN has called for nominations of individuals willing to serve as the next ARIN region representative on the ASO Address Council. The seat currently held by Eric Decker will become vacant on 31 December 2004.

Nominations will be accepted until 23:59 ET on Wednesday, 22 September 2004.

APNIC Executive Council decides to defer the ASO Address Council election
21 June 2004

The next election for an Asia-Pacific seat on the ASO Address Council is due to be held during the APNIC 18 meeting in Fiji in September 2004. However, pending the final outcome of the MoU negotiations, the APNIC Executive Council has decided to defer the AC election.

2004 Nominations for Representatives to the ASO Address Council - RIPE NCC Service Region
22 June 2004

On 31 December 2004, one Address Council seat for the RIPE NCC Service Region will become vacant and will be filled for the next three years by an individual nominated through an open call. The selection process will involve an open election to be held during the RIPE 49 Meeting in Manchester, UK, being held from 20 - 24 September 2004.
