ICANN Information
The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) is a non-profit corporation that was formed to assume responsibility for the coordination of:
- IP address space allocation
- protocol parameter assignment
- Domain Name System (DNS) management
- root server system management
These functions were previously performed under U.S. government contract by IANA and other entities.
Two supporting organisations assist ICANN in reviewing and developing recommendations on Internet policy and structure. These are:

Comments on the ICANN Three-Year Strategic Plan
In November 2004, ICANN released a three-year ICANN Strategic Plan for
public comment.
The Regional Internet Registries (RIRs) have gathered comments on this
document from each of their regional communities and made a joint
statement through the Number
Resource Organization (NRO) in March 2005.
