Biographical Information:

Jordi Palet Martinez has been working in computers, networking and the telecom business during the last 25 years. His experience includes programming in several languages, open systems, electronic and microcomputer circuit design, consultancy and network design and implementation, among others. He has been related to technical, marketing and product management in several companies, and is currently working as CEO/CTO at Consulintel, Madrid.

He has been involved in the IPv6 Forum, as chair of the Education & Awareness Working Group, since the Forum foundation, and is member of the Tech Directorate. Jordi is also a member of the IPv6 Logo Committee, responsible for the "IPv6 Ready" Program.

Jordi frequently writes articles, white papers, and presentations about most of the high end technologies. These documents have been published by several specialized magazines and other media, in both Spanish and English. He is a frequent lecturer and speaker in several Universities and events (Spain and Rest of the World), mainly about IPv6 and Next Generation Networks related issues (QoS, multicast, security, mobility, .), including complete tutorials. In the last three years, he has presented over 150 times.

Jordi is an active member of non-profit organizations for the dissemination of technologies and telecommunications/Internet. He is an active member and founder of the European IPv6 Task Force, Spanish IPv6 Task Force, and the IPv6 Task Force Steering Committee. He is also co-operating in several European and world-wide IPv6 Task Forces and similar bodies. He was a member of the Steering Committee at @asLAN, for several years, and then elected Vice-President and President.

Jordi has had involvement in several R&D projects and was the designer of Euro6IX, mainly responsible for the proposal preparation and further negotiation with the EC, and is the Scientific Project Coordinator. He is also heavily involved in other EC IST projects, including 6POWER (where he is also the Scientific Coordinator), 6QM, Eurov6, IPv6 TF-SC, 6LINK and the IPv6 Cluster. Jordi regularly participates in standardization activities, mainly in the IETF, with frequent contributions and Internet Drafts regarding IPv6 deployment/operations, transition, QoS and security, among others.

Motivation for Nomination:

"I would like to support the community in the ASO related tasks. One of my main interests is the success in the global deployment of IPv6, and consequently I am involved in lots of related activities, including policy, standardization, research & development, benchmarking and deployment in customer networks, without forgetting the awareness and dissemination activities.

The ASO activities regarding policy development and advice to ICANN, and specially the open question regarding Internet governance are very important topics in order to ensure the adequate, open, balanced and democratic continuation of the Internet, the development of the information society at a global scale, and facilitating the bridging of the digital divide. Those topics are of strategic importance for the health of the Internet and for providing a fair access to the knowledge for the entire world."
