Quick Tips for IP and AS Requests
by RIPE NCC IPRAs
1. Relevant request forms for relevant Internet resources
Most importantly, submit the relevant
request forms in reference
to which Internet resources you are applying for. Additionally, we advise
you to print out their relevant supporting notes and use it as a guide
when completing your requests.
2. Always sign your request
Make sure your request is signed by a REGISTERED contact
of the Local Internet Registry (LIR). For example, "from Joe Bloggs" at
the top or bottom of the request is all we look for (No PGP required.)
A request with no registered
contact
signature
will be returned to you and to the currently registered contacts.
3. Separate Requests for Separate Enterprises
Make sure your request is only for one enterprise. That is,
do not include address space for your own infrastructure and for your
customer on the same request form. Likewise, do not request resources
for two customers in one request.
Exception: If you request four (4) or less addresses per customer,
you may include them in the same request. For more specifics, and reasons
why, click here.
4. Web-Hosting? Http 1.0 or 1.1?
If your request includes address space for web hosting, then
you must tell us if you are using HTTP 1.0 or HTTP 1.1. If your answer
is HTTP 1.0 then you must read the following and let us know if you agree
to the conditions: HTTP Policy
5. Dial-ups: Static or Dynamic ?
For Dial-up requests, please specify if it is Static or Dynamic.
If your answer is Static then read the following about Static
Dial Up
6. Give us a Good Description
Above all - BE DESCRIPTIVE! The more descriptive you can be
about the network, the more chance you have of quickly receiving an
approval.
A description such as "Office Network" is not enough. Use the "Optional
Information" space at the end of the request form,
or underneath the Addressing
Plan to elaborate. For more specific descriptions we look for, click
here.
7. PI address space requested ?
Are you sure you need Provider Independent (PI) address space? Please
include your specific reason for requesting this. PI address space
will have
to
be routed separately and would not be aggregatable with your allocation.
Use the "Provider
Independent (PI) Assignment Request Form" to request PI address
space.
Is this your first request? Then please read: First
Request
If it is not your first request, then please read: PI
versus PA
8. Early Database Entries ?
Do not enter the network in the RIPE Database before receiving
an approval or your assignment will be invalid! More information:
Early DB Entries
9. Avoid sending Duplicates
Always use the original ticket number in the subject line of
your request - even if your request was bounced by the RIPE Robot.
If you do not use the same ticket number, you will create
unnecessary work for us and only increase the time it takes
to get your
approval. If you have been waiting a long time for an answer to your
request, do not send the request again without checking the status here: Ticket
Status
