1. Do I need to be a member of the RIPE NCC to receive an IPv6 allocation?
Yes. IP address space is only allocated to RIPE NCC members. However,
smaller ISPs and End Sites can obtain IPv6 address space from their
upstream provider.
2. How can I get an IPv6 allocation from RIPE NCC?
If you are a member/Local Internet Registry (LIR), you can request an
IPv6 allocation by completing the IPv6 allocation request form. In
order to get your allocation, you will need to:
- Advertise your allocation as a single prefix if the prefix is to be
used on the Internet
- Have a plan for making sub-allocations to other organisations
and/or End Site assignments within two years
For more information about getting an IPv6 allocation, see the IPv6
Address Allocation and Assignment Policy.

3. Is it possible to buy IPv6 address space?
No. IP address space is not for sale. RIPE NCC membership fees cover
the administrative costs of making an IPv6 allocation to members.
4. How much do I have to pay for an IPv6 allocation?
The allocation of IPv6 address space is one of the services the RIPE NCC
provides to its members. The administrative costs of making an IPv6
allocation are therefore covered by the membership fees paid by each
member.
5. Can I get an IPv6 multicast space allocation?
No. Currently, the RIPE NCC only allocates IPv6 unicast space.
Please see chapter 4.1 of the IPv6 Address Allocation and Assignment
Policy for more information on this.
6. Can I receive IPv6 address space to aid my IPv6 research and development?
If you are a RIPE NCC member, you can apply for an experimental
assignment. Please see the IPv6 Address Allocation and Assignment
Policy for more information. If you are not a RIPE NCC member, you can
obtain IPv6 address space from your upstream provider.
