RIPE Database Recordkeeping Policy
- RIPE Database historical data is comprised of
a) periodical snapshots of the database
b) contents of the old (deleted or updated) objects
c) transaction information
- Historical data is kept for the following purposes:
a) to provide information related to a particular transaction or an
object
b) to provide data essential for crash recovery
- Historical data can be requested by
a) in case 2.a by court when legal dispute occurs.
In this case the following information may be presented
- original submission related to a particular transaction, including
the mail headers;
- state of the database at the time the transaction occurred;
- history of a particular object.
b) in case 2.b by official peer databases (NRTM clients).
In this case the following data will be presented
- the latest snapshot of the database;
- all transactions (serials) needed to bring the database up to date.
- Historical data is kept and thus can be made available for the
above mentioned purposes for 3 years.
